Movie Theatre

Well, as I clean the house today, I thought that I would take some more pics of some of the rooms that we have finished. One thing that really appealed to Steve about this house is that it had a separate "media" room, all prewired out the nose for crazy stereo magic! Like a man's dream, right? It is quite a small room, so it was a challenge to find furniture to work in there that would seat our whole family and store all of our media! But we did...I am excited with how it turned out. I think its our favorite room in the whole house. We spend lots of time in there.

Addison's Room

Remember this? This was Michaela's room when we moved into our Austin house. She has since outgrown this decor, but we thought that we would reuse it for Addison. I wanted to put a new spin on it so that she would feel like it was different and fresh just for her. She was not thrilled about getting hand me downs, so I had a task ahead of me to make the room not look the same as Michaela's did back in Austin. I think we made it work.

I tried to replicate her bolster pillow on the wall. I actually kind of rushed through it, completing the whole room in a day. When I went back, I realized that I missed a little purple stripe. I am not so sure that I will ever fix it. By the time I get to that, I will want to redecorate. Still turned out fun!

Michaela's Room

So, I finally got Michaela's room painted and finished for her 11th birthday last week. Not sure why it took me so long, but I was dreading doing ceilings, its my least favorite thing...This is a really small room (about 9x10), so we had to trim down the furniture and stay very basic. I think she loves it still, but it is a big change for her...

Music Room

We decided to not do a dining room in this house, since sadly, we don't have enough family or friends in the area to really ever use it. So, after much looking, I finally found a baby grand that would suit our needs. I am in love and play it everyday.
Here is the pic of the dining room before (with the old residents furniture).

Fine, I'll do it...

It's really hard for me to post pics of the house because I am not close to be done, but people keep asking me, so here we go. I have almost painted the whole house, but still have a lot of things left to do like drapes, etc. (I have issues) I still haven't found a good place to get accessories, which is probably a good thing, but not everything I have works quite like I would want it to, thats just the way it is when you move. I am trying to make due. We are still getting used to smaller spaces. Its more difficult then I thought it would be.

Our New Hacienda

We finally are under contract on our Seattle home! Yay. Things are beginning to look a little more permanent. I saw this house on the MLS when we first starting looking, and it reminded me of the "Stuart Little" house. I haven't gotten to see it yet in person, but Steve thinks that it is a lot of fun and that I will like it. Definately a different space than we are used to, but the price is right!

Pick a House

I flew out to Seattle over the weekend to do some house hunting. A little depressing - sticker shock! I know that we are coming from Texas, but still, it was crazy. We ended up in a place called Snoqualmie. It is about 25 minutes away from Steve's work and it is really beautiful. Lots of young families. I think that our kids will be very happy here. We ended up doing essentially 2 offers. We are seeing which comes through to suite our needs better. The larger house has already come back, so we are waiting on the boxier looking one, which is actually the one I want. I know it is not as pretty, but it backs to a green belt and has a trail right next door. The kids would love it...+ it is cheaper and that is what we need.

I will let you know. I am dying to hear. Got to plan those rooms ya know...?

Dining Room Redo

Out with the old and in with the new. I needed a change, so I had to figure out how to do it for around $100. But I wanted the blogging world to know that I kept this dining room the same for OVER 2 years, which is my new minimum rule. Anyways, I wanted to brighten up the room, so I changed the red ceiling to silver. I used old family pictures from upstairs that I took down when we redid our movie theatre room (which I will post later).

Finally!

I finally finished my bathroom tile. Why I thought that this would be an "easy" job, I don't know.
2" tiles all around? While it is not perfect, I am happy with the outcome. I still want to frame out the mirrors and get a bamboo roman shade for the block window, but all in sweet time. I think that I would have done this in glass mosaics had I started it today. My taste has changed, and does change daily. Just part of being in the business. But this tile is pretty timeless and should not be too outdated anytime soon. This will have to do pig!

Check out some other great tile designs on my design blog here.
