Elementary Musical

Michaela's Birthday Party was tonight. She had originally thought that she wanted to take her friends to Oasis Day Spa for manicures/pedicures. She could only invite 6 friends though. So she opted to invite ALL her friends and do mani's/pedi's at home. I think after this experience I will foot the bill for Oasis! This was beyond crazy. We started out okay. While the girls waited for the pizza to come, they started High School Musical and they were all singing along. There was even some harmonizing going on. Check out the video.

Michaela didn't think that we could accomplish dinner/pedi's and mani's, HS Musical, HS Musical game, gifts, and desert in the 3 1/2 hours that we alloted for the party. So she told everyone at school to go ahead and come an hour early! Although it was a nice thought, I don't have enough valum in the house to get me through that. I was a little upset at her, and she broke down feeling terrible that she changed the plans that I had originally made. So I had to eat crow and remind her of the time when I was 6 and invited friends to my birthday party after school and it wasn't even my birthday. The apple certainly doesn't fall far from the tree. She giggled and felt better after all.

After dinner, the claws came out. These girls hormones were all over the place. A couple small cat fights broke out, but we eventually recovered. One girl actually called her grandma early to come pick her up. Frankly, she just wasn't being very nice and Michaela took it very personally. All of Michaela's church friends came around the table to comfort her and tell her it was the greatest party that they have ever been to and not to worry about it. She cheered up shortly there after. We know who her real friends are!

GRANDMA KARI is in the HOUSE!

Grandma Kari's Here! The kids were so excited. They haven't seen her in about a year and Addison was the first to recognize her all the way at the top of the escalator. "There she is, There she is!" What a perfect time for her to come. So many exciting things going on - birthday's, baptisms, ect. Fun Times!

Great to be 8!

Michaela turned 8 today, actually around 4:30 this morning, if I remember correctly! Congrats to her! a BIG year with her baptism and everything going on. Her Grandma Kari is coming to visit from Utah today and has a huge surprise for her. She bought her a ticket to go see "So You Think You Can Dance". I was buying them online for Steve and I the other night and she begged me to go. I told her they were way too expensive and she has no idea that her grandma pitched in and bought her a ticket. She is sure to FREAK!
Give and old-school shout out to New Kids on The Block wishin' Michaela Happy Birthday.

The School Bus BUZZ!

We had a rough night again last night. Dylan woke up at 2:30 and came downstairs ready for school. When I told him he still had 4 more hours of sleep and to go back to his bed, he started bawling. He wanted to make sure to make it on time to catch the bus. These kids are killin' me! When I woke up at 6:30, they were all in my room sleeping. The anxiety in this house, I am tellin' ya. Hopefully after a week or so, we will calm down.

After yesterdays experience picking the kids up from school, I have to say that I am very thrilled that they are excited to ride the bus. Talk about a million parents waiting for their kids to get out. I had to park 2 miles away and walk in the 100 degree heat. NIGHTMARE!

Weigh In Monday - WEEK 3

Okay, I feel like my metabolism is in starvation mode and is holding onto anything I put into my mouth. I hate to do it, but it is time to start working out. BLAH! I don't like it at all, and would like to fight anyone that says they do. Although I think that Steve really finds enjoyment in it, and it really makes me mad.

So, I am going to start off slow and work my way up. No premature shin-splints for me this go around. I guess that is what I have to report, other than my weight loss, which is not much. Maybe it was the shrimp tacos and chips at Hula Hut~!

Week 1: -5 pounds
Week 2: -2 pounds
Week 3: -2 pounds

Thanks for checkin in on me!

Back to School

So no one could sleep last night! The "back-to-school" butterflys kept everyone awake. Michaela couldn't fall asleep after enjoying her 2 hour nap after church. She came down to our room at 10 pm saying that no matter what she did, the nervousness and excitement was keeping her up. Dylan, however, slept like nobodys business.

After waking up every hour on the hour to see what time it was, we finally woke up at around 6:00 this morning. You would have thought we were going to Disneyworld or something! Michaela had migrated onto our floor and was fully dressed in her back to school clothes, now peacefully sleeping on the ground. Dylan came down seconds later and was talking 100 miles per minute.

There were no tears when we dropped them off. Everyone stayed strong and put their game face on. We will have to see how it all went when I go to pick them up today. Mommy didn't cry this year either. I was smiling ear to ear walking out of that school. It has been a long summer.

Hula Hut

Our family loves Hula Hut. The only thing better than driving on a golf cart to get to your dinner, is driving up on your boat to get to dinner! If only. Anyways, gotta try the shrimp tacos if you have never been. They are divine!

After spending the day at the pool and then heading over to Clayton to meet the kids new teachers, we had worked up an appetite! Here are some pics of the kids while we waited outside to be seated. They even took a couple of Steve and I.

A Little CAT Nap

Steve took the day off to spend with the kids before they become students again on Monday. Sweet dad found time to take a little snooze with Addison. Aren't they cute?

Me and Bridget

It was a blast! Short but sweet, and we did Juicy Hollywood together. I hope that I was clear and that I explained blogging well and did it justice. Hope you tuned in! I will be getting a CD of it, and posting it on my blog if you missed out, sometime next week. Watch for that if you didn't hear it today.
It was a great time seeing Bridget again. She looked beautiful with her new extensions (both eyelash and hair). I think she gets the hook up with just a few perks from being a DJ on Mix. She is really great and down to Earth. I was looking to post some pics of us in the past, but haven't yet run across them. Here we are at the studio:

Michaela's Hair Cut

So Michaela has been trying to talk me into cutting her hair for a while now. I really think it looks cute short, but I wanted to make sure that it wasn't spur of the moment, and that she really wanted it short. She has been thinking about it for a couple months now.
With school coming up on Monday, it was time for her makeover. She decided that she wanted it short for her baptism too. Dylan told her that she looked like an alien.

Candice is on the AIR Tomorrow

So, some of my close friends know that last year I won the Mix 94.7 "mommy makeover" at Lifetime Fitness. It was a 3 month program of intesive training and dieting that I got to do with Bridget from mix 94.7 and Tonya Kerr from KXAN news. It was a great experience and although I didn't walk away with a "killer body", I did make a great friend - Bridget.

She called me today and we were shootin' the crap. She logged onto my blog last week and really loved the idea of blogging. So, since Carey is on vacation, she asked me to come in tomorrow and talk on the air about blogging - why, how, ect. So I am on it. Tune in from about 3-5 pm and it should be on. I will be in the studio from 3-4.
Most of you are familiar with the Happy Hour Show, but incase you aren't, check their site:
Bridget was named "Radio Personality of the Year" last year here in Austin. So SHOUT out to her. She is hilarious, you must tune it.

Couches

So I am on my second leather couch from Ashley Furniture. I just can't seem to get what I want and Ashley is not known for their quality! I need help on my selection. I found a couch that is totally comfortable, but I don't think it is very attractive, and I am trying to stay away from the "lazy boy" look.

The top picture is what I have now, it is damaged so I am sending it back. I am thinking of exchanging it for the one on the bottom. And they are letting me reselect again. But I want to make sure that I do it right. Which one is better? Is the second one ugly? (it is more comfortable that the first, but I don't want a bit of nasty in my living room)

Girly Girl Time

Thanks ladies for the fun night. Becoming Jane was a great flick. A little unexpected and sad, but good. Talking to everyone was the best of all. I love all of ya and am so glad to be able to hang out and get to know you. Lets do it again soon. Thanks everyone for coming. I think it was a success!
